Tips and Hints

You never want your hair to be “squeaky-clean” like they say in the old commercials. This means your hair is stripped of its proteins,  and unhealthy.

Lightly rinsing your hair of conditioner is just like having a “leave-in conditioner” without the extra cost.

Never use a towel to dry your hair like some dry their bodies – rubbing it together or back and forth. This is like using sandpaper, and will not only tangle your hair more, but it will fray the hair and cause even more damage. Wrap your hair like you would with a turban, and twist it gently so as to squeeze the water out of your hair. When you take the towel off, lean over the tub or shower and flick your hair back and forth with your fingers to get any excess water off. Your fingers are much better on your hair than the towel rub.

When blow-drying your hair, it is better for your hair to use the “warm” mode rather than the “hot” mode.

Fun Facts and Education

Prescription drugs can affect your hair’s health.
Your hair health can also be the result of what you eat. If you don’t have enough “good fat” in your diet, your hair may be dull and lifeless.

WHY  IS THE CUTICLE OF THE HAIR IMPORTANT?
The cuticle layer of the hair is the little “scales” you can see under a microscope when you look at a piece of hair. These “scales” overlap each other 5-12 deep. The more damaged the hair is, the less layers of “scales” the hair has. These are very important because they protect the protein and moisture in the hair.

When the cuticle of the hair is naturally laying down flat (hydrated and healthy), the surface of the hair will actually reflect more light, which makes the hair appear shiny.  I say naturally because that is the healthiest hair, when it naturally lays down.

The other side of that coin is when the cuticle is laid down chemically (NOT healthy), when it is “waxed” down.  Beware of those shampoo/conditioner ads that say they add shine. Virtually all those products add shine by “waxing” the hair, not with protein but with waxes. All this does is mask the problem, not solve it by hydrating and feeding it.

There are basically two types of shampoos in the stores: clarifying and conditioning. The clarifying is water-based, and the conditioning is wax-based. The clarifying shampoos can be, and most are, very harsh on the hair. The reason these companies want you to use their clarifying shampoos is to strip the build-up of waxes from their conditioning shampoos. There was a commercial for one brand years ago that said to use the clarifying shampoo every 3-4 months to take the build-up off your hair. What they didn’t tell you was that the build-up was from their wax-based conditioning shampoo. So what was happening to the hair was it was being stripped of it’s protein by the conditioning shampoo with all the sulfates and harsh chemicals.  But then it was going in right after that and “conditioning” by putting a wax coating on the hair so the cuticle would lay flat and look shiny. Of course it was shiny – it was waxed!

Think about it like this. Would you continue to wax a nice piece of wood furniture time after time after time? Or would you use an emollient that would put the moisture back into the wood and let it naturally shine? Have you ever seen a wood table that has been waxed over and over and then left sitting out in the elements, or just the sun? It gets yellow, it cracks, it peels and then it starts falling apart because it becomes dry and rotten. Now, think about “waxing” your hair with those conditioning shampoos!

And why not just clarify it every time? Your hair needs more than just cleansing every time. And what kind of cleansing surfactants do these store-bought shampoos have in them? Sulfates are very harsh on your hair and scalp. You will see several different ones: Ammonium Laurel Sulfate, Ammonium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Laurel Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate. I don’t like any of them for the hair. I believe they are too harsh, and dehydrate the hair too much. Yes, they give more suds, but that’s where marketing has gone today. You have been brainwashed to think that the more suds, the better the cleansing. I’m here to tell you that’s false. You don’t even have to have suds to get the hair clean. But we’ve all heard it all our lives, and it’s very hard to get over that belief.

For years we have been taught that if we have oily hair we must always use a clarifying shampoo, that that’s the only way to get it to not be oily. That’s not true. I have helped many people through what I call “Hair Therapy/Recovery.”  Let me explain. Your sebaceous glands create the oils your scalp and hair need to be healthy. When your scalp is dry, it sends a message to your sebaceous glands to make more oil. What causes this? Dry, dehydrated scalp. Why? Because the clarifying shampoo has stripped the hair and scalp of most all of its oils.  This makes your scalp ask your glands to make more oils, which they then excrete in abundance – thus, oily hair and scalp.

As I have studied hair, hair products and their design, I have found that virtually all the products out on the market in retail stores are cheap for a reason. They make the companies lots of money, and the bottle may cost more than the product itself.

We at Endres Natural Essentials believe that the product should be quality and should cost lots more than the bottle – and keep your hair the healthiest it can be. And that’s what we intend to do to the best of our ability and knowledge.

Testimonials

These are some of our testimonials and comments that have been given to us in the last three years.  You are invited to write us your testimonials and give us permission to put them on our web page, and we will share yours, also.

Our customers that Color their hair have told us that they get a lot more dimension, shine and softness to their hair with our products.

Comb-out is easier when the cuticle of the hair is flat. Then it’s not like Velcro and doesn’t tangle so much, if at all. Tangles are the catching of one hair to another one or 10 or 20 to each other. That is because the hair cuticle has lost its protein and begins to lift. When you get lots of those little “lifted” parts, then they catch on each other just like Velcro does. Then when you comb or brush through them, you will usually break hairs off. It’s not the “split ends”, it’s the “split middles”, you could say, that cause breakage.

Some of our customers say that their hair dries in half the time using our shampoo, compared with other shampoos they have used before. I believe that is due to the lack of waxes that coat the hair. Water will disperse faster, some being absorbed to hydrate the hair, the rest dissipating. WOW!!! Just think of the time savings – 20 minutes here, 30 minutes there! What will you do with all that extra time?

We have customers with Vitalago (lack of pigment in the skin) that have told us our formulas don’t even bother their skin, and they love them.

Our customers tell us that they have more body in their hair than ever before.  Some don’t even feel the need to use gel or mousse any more.

Others tell us that they don’t get as greasy/oily now.  Still others tell us their color stays shiny in their hair.

Many of our customers teasingly tell us we must be adding hair fertilizer to our products as their hair grows faster than it’s ever grown before. I figure it’s because they are giving their scalp the healthier “hair food” with our natural products and no harsh chemicals to debilitate hair growth.

I have been “in-the-know” on hair products for about the last 6 years, since I worked with a manufacturer of Salon Hair Products, and was their top Salon in the country. He took me into his confidence. Most all of the companies that you have used from the Salon have sold out to other companies – Redken, Matrix, Joico and several others. When the new company takes over, they wait for a period of time, then they change the formula, and usually put more fillers or maybe cheaper ingredients into their formulas, so that they can make more money off that product. They figure once you’ve used their products for a while and then they cheapen them, you won’t be the wiser and will continue using them, which means they make even more money off your purchases.  I think it shows who they really care about – themselves – not you!

We feel these products are safe enough to use on babies, and they will hydrate their skin instead of drying it out. This statement has not been evaluated by any government agency. It is purely our statement as told to us by our customers, and the fact that we do not use tentatively harmful chemicals.
