Why These Products and Why Now?

My journey began in 2002. I was named the number one salon for sales of products by a company out of Chicago, which I had been teaching a specialty cut for in a tri-state area. I set this same company up with another company looking for hair products to sell with a quarter-million dollar deal. I then got bounced out of the hair product company for the almighty dollar. He wanted it, and didn't want to award me a finder's fee.

It was about a year later that the company that purchased "Chicago's" products called me with concerns about the questionable ingredients in these products. I will tell you now, virtually all hair stylists believe what they are told by the manufacturers or sales people selling them their products that they carry in their salons.  So they can be told all kinds of things, and never really know if they are good or not so good or even bad for the user. Most of us are just hairstylists, not chemists.

Because of what happened to me, though, I felt a need to know what I was using on and selling to my clients.  After a year of hitting brick walls while trying to research hair products, the knowledge came flying at me from everywhere. I just kept finding information and learning more and more about ingredients used in hair products.

I thought, "ah, no problem. I can make my own.  It can't be that hard."  Well, I was wrong.  It wasn't easy.  Research and Development (R & D) was very hard...and expensive...and time consuming!  But I was not about to give up.  I wanted to create something I could be proud of, and I wanted to know what I was talking about when I talked to my clients, friends, family and anyone else I could get to lend me their ear.  I love to learn and then pass my knowledge on if it can help someone else.  So I did...and I have...thanks to God, my ever-present help in my time of need!

My Bio:

I am a Licensed Master Barber, currently licensed in Tennessee. I went to Barber College in Indianapolis, Indiana. Graduated and Licensed in January of 1979.  I have also been licensed in California, Virginia and Tennessee.

I have been a Platform Artist for Hair Shows, teaching the Helix cut, for about 3 years. I was in an International Hair Competition for Master Barbers, and unofficially placed 6th(only 5 placement ribbons given. Rats!) in Atlanta, Georgia in 1979.

I purchased my first Hair Salon in Kingsport, Tennessee in 2000. I opened my second hair salon in 2002 and was owner/operator in both.

I was the number one nationwide salon in sales, and ended up working as the top sales person for the same hair care product company out of Chicago for about three years.

Family:

I have been married to Gary for over 26 years. Life has been an adventure. We have two children and two dogs.

Gary has been my support in this whole endeavor, and has given me a proverbial kick in the pants when I have needed it to keep my focus and energy going in the right direction to complete this huge project I began over five years ago. He has been my steady rock and sounding board, and has given me some wonderful advice, even when I didn’t ask for it (but did appreciate it, even if I didn’t say so). Thanks, Gary. I Love You.

Our children are Brittany and James. Brittany is now a Dr. of Physical Therapy.  James is at a university working on a Graphic Design degree. They both have been a blessing, and we are very proud of them, and thankful for them.

Our two dogs, Buster and Beau,  are mini-Schnauzers. They are our kids since we are empty nesters. I will be developing a specialty shampoo just for dogs, so look for that in the future, along with other new, great products.

I also have four brothers and one sister that have been very supportive. And a mom and dad that continuously tell me how proud of me they are – which is also an immense encouragement.  My younger sister, whom I’ve become great friends with in the last 15+ years, has been a wonderful example for me to follow when I wanted to just give up and quit. She is such an amazing entrepreneur and businesswoman who has been running successful businesses for years now.

God can do great things when we allow him to do so.  My sister acts like she has no fear, and if she does, she doesn’t show it.  That confidence has been my guide in my business. Even though she’s my “little sister,” I admire her business and personal life, and her faith in God. And I just love her family, too. I would miss it if we couldn’t be together for all the special times we share each year.

And I wouldn’t be anywhere near done with these products if not for the prayers of my whole family and friends that have been a wonderful support. I appreciate each one of them.

But above all, I thank God for allowing me to use this business to touch others for Him.  It has been my dream to be able to “pay it forward” in thanks to God for giving me the knowledge and learning experience of this whole endeavor.  It is still my goal to one day have a non-profit organization that will not only “feed them fish” but “teach them to fish.”  I am starting small. I will be giving to God in thanks 10% of my profit, and live off of 90%.  It is my goal to give God 90% of my profit and live off of 10%.  I can’t wait to see what He has in store for this company and our family, but I’m excited every day to see His hands at work through us.

May God bless each and every one of you.  May he hold you in his arms and show you His Love and His Joy every day of your life.  And may you take that Love and Joy and “pay it forward” to whomever he puts on your heart to touch for His sake.
